Caution is needed as some of the postal rates reported do not match current knowledge, in particular thoose for the period 1890 to 1891. It includes many illustrations of postal history of the Philippines (although none for the period 1890 to 1891). It also includes examples of some cancellation types (although the list is not complete).

The Manual of the Postal Rates of Spain and its Overseas Possessions provides a commentary on the politocal forces that influenced the postal rates of Spain including those of the Philippines. It is very well researched and includes useful references relating to Royal Orders but only a few postal history examples of Philippine covers.

An earlier version of the Catalogue of Postal Stationery of Spain, Colonies and Dependencies was published in xxx with a second version 1971.
Laiz released a specialised edition the Specialized Catalogue of Postal Stationery of Spain, Colonies and Dependencies in 1994. A second edition was produced in 2000 with a third edition, now occupying three volumes in 2006 and 2007 with a supplimentary 4th volume issued in 2012.
